Why you should visit Fort Lauderdale

If you’re considering heading to Florida for some warmth, you may naturally have been thinking about going to Miami. But Fort Lauderdale is also a great choice, especially if you choose vehicle rental in Fort Lauderdale.

Here are some reasons to visit Fort Lauderdale:

Mangroves

Westlake Park is an excellent place for a water experience., and you can spend time paddling through the mangroves while learning about the ecology, history of the area, and wildlife. If you choose the North WHite Trail, check out the banana spiders who will be bouncing around above you from tree to tree.

The beach

There are 23 miles of sand linking 8 different beach towns within Fort Lauderdale. Head to Anglin’s Beach Cafe where you’ll find pizza, lobster rolls, oysters, and more. Not only are the beaches incredible here, but they’ll often see fewer tourists compared to hotspots like South Beach.

Plenty of road trips

Another good reason to rent a vehicle in Fort Lauderdale? Road trips. There is so much to see and do in the area that you’ll never get bored. And if you’re ready to get out and explore, it’s a quick drive to Miami where you can do some shopping or hit the clubs. Not to mention, Orlando is just 4-5 hours away so you can hit the theme parks. If you’re bringing the kids, consider buying your tickets in advance so you won’t waste time standing in line.

The Hollywood Boardwalk

Sure, you’re not going to see those big white letters when it comes to Hollywood in Florida (which is located just 15 minutes from Fort Lauderdale), but this is still a great way to spend an afternoon. Head to Sun & Fun cycles and grab a bike, or try a surrey. If you’re done with the boardwalk you can also head downtown where you’ll find lots of restaurants, art galleries, boutiques, and more.

Horseback Riding

You probably didn’t think you’d be on horseback for this vacation did you? Head to Bar-B-Ranch, which has been owned by a family since 1969. You’ll be taken across open green pastures, close to swamps, and along narrow trails and sand. Your horse will be chosen for you based on your riding level, and if you’re experienced you can have fun cantering and trotting. This will be a whole day adventure, so be sure to plan time in your itinerary. This is also a great idea if you’ve got kids and would like to get outdoors.
