Adomakoh, Nicholas (Barbados)
Dr. Adomakoh is an infectious disease physician providing clinical care for persons living with HIV and technical oversight at the Ladymeade Reference unit. He also serves as a member of the National HIV/AIDS Commission. Dr. Adomakoh is the Lead Technical Advisor for the project entitled ‘Taking Action against HIV/AIDS in the UK Caribbean Overseas Territories,’ a three year project (2008- 2011) funded by the Department for Overseas Development (UK), in partnership with Options Consulting (UK) and Associates for International Development (Barbados), supporting capacity building in the UKCOTs to better respond to the HIV pandemic.

George Alleyne (Barbados)
Sir George Alleyne has served as the United Nations Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS for the Caribbean since 2003. That same year the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) appointed him head of a new commission to examine health issues confronting the region, including HIV/AIDS, and their impact on national economies. Sir George served for many years with the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) and retired as Director in 2003.

Altenberg, Juanita (Jamaica)
Altenberg has led Maxi Linder, one of the region's oldest NGOs serving sex workers, for 15 years. Her work has included one on one care and support for persons living with HIV and prevention activities for sex workers and others most at risk for HIV.

Armstrong, Jane (Barbados)
Armstrong is Chief of Party for the Caribbean HIV and AIDS Alliance (CHAA) and currently leads the Eastern Caribbean Community Action Programme, funded by USAID. This programme operates in four OECS countries; Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, St. Kitts and Nevis and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The CHAA serves vulnerable populations throughout the Caribbean region. Armstrong was previously Head of the Regional programme at the Department for International Development (DFID) and led the UK government’s HIV and AIDS Programme in the Caribbean.

Ayoung, Carol (Trinidad & Tobago)
Ayoung is the Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce (CAIC), Board Member of PANCAP and the Chair of the Pan Caribbean Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS (PCBC). The objectives of the PCBC are to support the implementation of appropriate workplace policies, encourage the development of National Business Coalitions and to bring private sector expertise to bear on initiatives within the national expanded response to HIV/AIDS.

Baynes-Henry, Namela (Guyana)
Baynes-Henry, a journalist, is the Producer and Director of a one hour magazine programme and Editor of “First Look” news on Hoyte-Blackman Television Station Channel 9 in Guyana. “First Look” airs a daily Caribbean Broadcast Media Partnership (CBMP) feature on HIV and AIDS. Founding member and Co-chairperson of a non-government organisation Society Against Sexual Orientation Discrimination (SASOD), Baynes-Henry serves as the focal person on HIV and AIDS of SASOD.

Best, Anton (Barbados)
Dr. Best is the Senior Medical Officer of Health in charge of the HIV/STI program in the Ministry of Health. He is a public health specialist and specialist physician in HIV medicine. Dr. Best manages the comprehensive HIV/STI program in the Ministry of Health that has responsibility for HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care. Boafo, Kwame (Jamaica)
Boafo, Ph.D, is the Director of the UNESCO Kingston Cluster Office for the Caribbean, which covers 16 countries in the region. In 2007 – 2008 Boafo served as the Chairman of the United Nations Theme Group on HIV and AIDS in Jamaica and has written articles and publications on such subjects as media systems, communication policy and technology, and development communication.

Browne, Carl (Guyana)
Browne is the Director of the Pan Caribbean Partnership against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP), an entity established in 2001 by the Heads of Government of the Caribbean to coordinate the regional response to HIV and AIDS. PANCAP has a membership of 65 partners drawn from governments, civil society, private sector and multilateral organizations. Browne also serves as a delegate of the Latin America and the Caribbean constituency on the Board of the Global Fund.

Carr, Robert (Jamaica)
Carr, Ph.D, has been at the forefront of HIV/Human Rights responses in the Caribbean for over a decade. He has conducted extensive research in the vulnerabilities faced by various groups in the region. Carr has been the Coordinator of the Graduate Programmes Unit of CARIMAC, University of the West Indies, Mona since 2006. He is also the founder and Executive Director of the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition (CVC) which has over a hundred members.

Clarke, Roberta (Barbados)
Clarke is the Regional Programme Director of the UNIFEM Caribbean Office. UNIFEM’s mandate is to advance gender equality and women’s empowerment. With UNAIDS, UNIFEM is supporting the Caribbean Coalition of Women and Girls on HIV and AIDS (CCWA) which is a broad coalition of women working to ensure gender-responsive policy and programming in the Caribbean.

Davis, Angela L. (Barbados)
Davis B.A. (Hons.), MPH., is a Senior HIV/AIDS Technical Advisor at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) serving Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean. Didier, Joan (St Lucia)
Didier is a founding member and Executive Director of AIDS Action Foundation St. Lucia, a non-government organisation working to mitigate the spread and impact of HIV/AIDS through effective education, advocacy and care and support of PLHIV and other vulnerable communities. Didier also serves as the Director of the OECS Regional Coordinating Mechanism for the OECS Global Fund Project. Edwards, Miriam (Guyana)
Edwards founded the Guyana organisation “One Love” and later co-founded the regionally-based Caribbean Sex Work Coalition and then Guyana’s national organisation of sex workers, Guyana Sex Work Coalition. Edwards runs training session for sex workers, distributes condoms and safer sex material, visits those living with HIV in the hospitals or their homes and advocates for the rights of sex workers and other marginalised groups in the Caribbean.

Figueroa, Peter (Jamaica)
Dr. Figueroa is Professor of Public Health, Epidemiology & HIV/AIDS at the University of the West Indies, Mona and is former Director of the National HIV/STI programme in Jamaica. He is a leader in HIV prevention and care and is committed to making HIV services available to all. He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Regional Coordinating Mechanism of PANCAP.

Husbands, Arlene (Barbados)
Husbands is the Caribbean Programme Coordinator for the Education Development Center Caribbean Office in Barbados, working closely with the Ministries of Education in building their capacity to strengthen their response to HIV and AIDS. As the former National Programme Coordinator for the ILO/U.S Department of Labor HIV/AIDS Workplace Program, she has worked collaboratively with public and private sectors to obtain buy-in from stakeholders and ensure local input in the development of the design and implementation of HIV and AIDS Behaviour Change Communication Programmes in the world of work. Landis, Clive (Barbados)
Professor Landis is the Chair in Vascular Research at The University of the West Indies. He is also founder of the Caribbean Cytometry & Analytical Society (CCAS), a professional society with an educational mission to train HIV/AIDS healthcare providers in the Caribbean. Leacock, Ph.D., is the Executive Director of the Caribbean Broadcast Media Partnership on HIV/AIDS (CBMP). Mottley is the Chief Operations Officer of the Caribbean Coalition of National AIDS Programme Coordinators (CCNAPC). CCNAPC seeks to empower its thirty four French, Spanish, Dutch and English members to build strong national, territorial and regional responses to HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean by reinforcing member leadership and building programme management capacity primarily through peer collaboration. CCNAPCS’ membership is made up of the Directors, Programme Managers and Coordinators charged with the responsibility of coordinating their country’s HIV/AIDS response. Mottley is also an advocate for the LGBT and PLWHA rights and in this capacity serves on a number of advocacy groups in Trinidad and Tobago.

Ramos, Elias (Dominican Republic)
Ramos is a leader of “Jovenes de la Vida Real” (in English, YurWorld or Youth in the Real World), a project by COIN in the Dominican Republic that targets marginalized youth in order to increase their resilience to HIV. He believes that an effective response takes more than disease specific interventions and includes broader development strategies that encourage change through employment and cultural values, ownership of assets, and political and civil opportunities that empower marginalized youth.

Reid, Ainsley, K. (Jamaica)
Reid is the GIPA (Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV) Coordinator in the National HIV/STI Programme, Jamaica where he coordinates the promotion and integration of the GIPA concept in the private and public sectors, and civil society groups. He is a resource person on HIV/AIDS and related issues in Jamaica and the Caribbean where he supports the advocacy work of churches and Caribbean Media Partnership on HIV/AIDS. Trotman, Sheree (St Lucia)

Tull, Joan (Barbados)
Tull is a communication specialist working with the UNAIDS global web team. She has been involved in various UNAIDS projects and helped set up the Global Media AIDS Initiative. She has extensive experience in behaviour change communication, leading HIV-related radio projects for young people in Uganda and Nigeria. Tull was a senior producer and editor at the BBC World Service for some ten years.

Snagg, Donna (Guyana)
Snagg is a human rights activist who uses her experience of being deported from the U.S. approximately ten years ago to mobilize other persons with similar experiences in Guyana. She founded the Juncata Juvant Friendly Society, an NGO that caters to the needs of others who have been deported. Juncata Juvant recognizes the challenges this group encounters and their vulnerability to HIV.

Whorms, Ionie (Jamaica)
Whorms is involved in advocating for vulnerable communities in Jamaica, especially crack cocaine users. She has been in recovery for fifteen years. Whorms documentary “Complex Problems, Simple Solutions,”--a collaboration between CVC and the Caribbean Treatment Action Group produced by the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC)--is one way is which she has advocated for the rights of this community.
