3 Handy Travel Hacks to Use This Summer

Jetting off on holiday can be a stressful experience.

When you’re not busy jamming two week’s worth of belongings into a tiny suitcase or hunting high and low for slippery passports, it seems you’re attempting to bundle excited kids into a car and tearing your hair out in the process.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way.

After all, spending time with your family in some far-flung destination should evoke images of sun kissed beaches, free flowing cocktails and warm nights spent walking underneath a blinking ceiling of stars.

These days, however, it seems just about every family holiday is an increasingly traumatic affair, as you try to keep your temper in check whilst all around you are determined to make your life as difficult as possible …

… but help is at hand.

With our three useful travel hacks, below, you can make your next trip a breeze.

Streamline Your Suitcase

Admit it – you’ve all had a tussle with your suitcase prior to leaving for the airport. Typically, you’ll have tried to pack too much and gone into full on foulmouthed mode before ripping all your clothes out of the case and storming off for a drink.

We’ve all been there. However, by rolling your clothing instead of folding, you can fit more things in. It sounds simple, but you’d be amazed at how many folk insist on the conventional way. For even more space, stuff your underwear and socks in your shoes. Winner!

Meet and Greet Parking

Once you’re packed and ready to go, dragging luggage on and off public transport isn’t the best way to start your holiday, which is why driving to the airport in your own motor is often the easiest way to avoid bursting a blood vessel before you reach the terminal.

However, taking it one step further and investing in meet and greet parking will make sure you begin your journey in style. At Gatwick meet and greet, for instance, you simply drive to the terminal to be met by a driver who’ll park your motor and meet you at the same point when you return. Easy.

Mark Baggage as Fragile

We all know baggage handlers throw our luggage around like they’re practicing for some kind of suitcase shot-put, so to avoid your gear being damaged, slap a fragile marker on your bag to make sure it’s handled properly.

Perhaps more importantly, your luggage should be kept at the top of the pile, which means it’ll get released first, allowing you to grab your bags and hotfoot it to your hotel while the others sweat it out at the carousel.

Over to you …
