Building Your Bucket List: Things To Do Before You Die

Do you have a bucket list, or a list of things you want to do before you die? Writing one up is a great way to ensure you’re getting the most out of life and are fulfilling your dreams. As the saying goes, life isn’t measured by how many breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. And the things on this list will certainly do that. Looking to build your bucket list? Here are a few ideas!

See Some Of The World’s Most Famous Places

We all have places in the world we want to visit, why not write down where you’d most like to go. Even if it seems unachievable, you never know what’s around the next corner. Something could change which allows you to start saving for it! It could be viewing New York City from the top of the Statue of Liberty, or a view of Paris from the Eiffel Tower. It could be taking in the vast, sprawling views of the Grand Canyon or the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. There’s a reason these places are so famous and popular, they are absolutely incredible. Everyone should aim to see as many of these places as possible in their lifetime if you have any on your bucket list work out ways you can get around to doing them!

View The Northern Lights

One of the most spectacular natural phenomena on the planet, the aurora borealis are collision on the earth atmosphere by electrically charged particles from the sun. They present themselves as glowing, swirling and shooting multicolored lights in the sky- fascinating to see. There are lots of places you can go to see the Northern Lights, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Sweden, Canada, even Scotland. The time of year and weather conditions will affect your chances of seeing them, so do your research before booking your trip to avoid disappointment.

Fly on a Private Jet or Helicopter

There are few things more luxurious than this, if you’re looking to experience the celebrity treatment then this is one way to go about it! You could look into private jets of the most influential people on earth and see what’s available to hire. There is no better way to get from A to B, and while something like this isn’t going to come cheap, it’s an experience that will knock your socks off and is certainly something to tick off your bucket list. There are often helicopter experiences you can book to give you a bird’s eye view of different destinations too. If you’re interested in the flying side of things, helicopter lessons could be an option!

See Animals Up Close

We’ve all seen sharks, elephants, big cats and incredible bird species on television and in books. But getting up close and personal and seeing these animals with your own eyes really is something special. Going on a safari, swimming with dolphins or sharks or booking an animal encounter at a zoo is one way to go about it. There are lots of places you can watch whale migration, you could swim with stingrays or go on a desert camel trek. Seeing and appreciating these majestic beasts, not just behind glass or through a tv screen is certainly bucket-list worthy!

Volunteer Abroad

We can get so complacent in our lives. When we were born into a place where there’s running water, a roof over our head, gas, electricity, an education system it can be difficult to imagine life any other way. By volunteering abroad, you can really change your perspective. You can help those who are less fortunate and genuinely make a difference in their lives. You don’t need to have any special skills to be able to help, in the poorest countries in the world even basic numeracy and English can make a difference to the lives of children. You could help in the community constructing buildings, or something different entirely you could work on conservation. Even if you can’t volunteer abroad, there are bound to be plenty of projects you can get involved in your local community- from soup kitchens to care homes to children’s hospitals. Whatever you do, giving your time for a good cause is never a bad thing, you get to have new experiences and make a difference in the world.

Study Something You’re Passionate About

Study and learning shouldn’t end when you finish formal education. In fact, studying later in life is one of the most beneficial things you can do. You know your own mind better and can take up a subject that you’re genuinely passionate about, even if it has nothing to do with your career. Whether it’s cooking, photography, counseling or event planning- whatever you have an interest and passion for it’s so worth pursuing. It could become a side business, lead to a change or career or just remain as a hobby. Either way, spending time studying and learning more about a topic of your choice is good for the brain and is a good investment in yourself.

Achieve Your Health Goals

Year after year millions of people around the world vow to make the new year their healthiest yet. Diet and fitness is one of the most common resolutions people set. But we all know these can be tricky and easily fall by the wayside come February. However, there’s no time like the present to get in shape, and finally achieve your health goals. It could be to run a marathon, fit into a certain dress size or reach a certain number on the scale. Health and fitness is so important if this is something you have on your bucket list, achieving it will make you feel fantastic. Everyone should have the chance in life to feel at their very best. Once you’re at your goal, you can simply maintain or set new ones to smash.

What’s on your bucket list? Have you achieved any of these things?
