If you who detest spending their winters in the dark and cold you’ll no doubt feel the temptation to get away on multiple holidays. Chasing the sunshine could be the perfect solution to your seasonal woes. There are plenty of fantastic destinations that will provide you with all the sunshine, surf, and sun that you’re looking for and allow you to escape the winter. Here are just a few great places to keep in mind when you’re heading for the sunshine.

1. Canary Islands, Spain

The Canary Islands have long been a holiday destination for anyone looking for the ultimate relaxation along world famous beaches such as the Playa de los Americas. The many islands of this archipelago are filled with lots of other entertaining activities, from trekking through national parks to boating beneath the towering cliffs of Los Gigantes, or visiting the UNESCO Biosphere of Lanzarote.

2. Durban, South Africa

If it’s winter in the Northern Hemisphere then it’s summer in the Southern, and there are few sunny destinations that can beat the beaches and cosmopolitan fun that can be found in the city of Durban in South Africa. With a revamped waterfront promenade, vibrant nightlife and grand colonial buildings, there is a lot more than just beach-life to love about Durban.

At the southern tip of California, near the border of Mexico, sits the city of San Diego, known across the world for its year-round beautiful weather. It’s one of the sunniest cities in the whole of the USA. San Diego and the surrounding region are home to a mix of manicured beaches and wild coastline, making it a prime destination for sunbathers and adventurers alike.

Few places are more synonymous with the term “tropical paradise” than Hawaii, and the region of Lihue on the iconic island of Kaua’I is home to a number of stunning resorts, beaches, golf courses, and all the dramatic landscape that this Pacific archipelago is known for. Whether you’re a surf-bum or are simply looking to relax and enjoy a cocktail in glorious weather, Lihue won’t disappoint.

5. Sydney, Australia

One of the world’s most iconic cities, Sydney is home to sites like Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House, and an array of beaches, from the famous Bondi Beach to the secluded Palm Beach. Surf, sand, sun, and a cultural scene that includes music festivals, local restaurants and bars and much more, make a visit to Sydney something everyone should do at least once in their life.
