DIY Backyard Building Projects
Summer is just around the corner, making it the perfect time to get started on your outdoor DIY projects for the year. If you are a little stuck on what projects to work on this summer I’ve rounded up some of the best DIY backyard building projects to chose from.
Get the fence built
This is one of those projects that always gets put off, however good fencing helps provide your home with security, street appeal and completely revamp the look of your yard. If you are worried about ongoing maintenance then composite fencing provides an easy low maintenance alternative.Composite fencing not only looks sleek and like timber, it’s durable and will last for years.
Build an outdoor fire pit
An outdoor fire pit is something that provides a great element to any backyard. Not only that it can be used in the winter too. The outdoor fire pit provides a great space to sit around as a family, share stories and roast some marshmallows. It’s also great for entertaining guests at summer BBQs or dinner parties. To build the fire pit, ensure you pick a wide open space, away from other trees and where you also have room to put seating around it.
Create a garden bench
In the summer it’s great to go sit outside, read, and soak in all the sunshine. A beautiful accessory to add to your garden is a garden bench. If you aren’t a sunshine lover then build an arbor for shade or place it under the tree. Comfort can come by building it with a great back support and add some weatherproof outdoor cushions.
Vege planter box
There is something pretty special about being able to get fresh vegetables from the garden to use in your cooking. A vege garden planter box is super easy to build, affordable and can easily be done over the weekend. You can grow an array of different vegetables in there too, like sweet cherry tomatoes, zucchini, capsicums, lettuce, chillis and all your favourite herbs. All you need is some timber, good soil and seeds. If you want to keep it lower maintenance then set up a permanent watering system.
Build a garden tool shed
To protect your garden tools from nature’s elements, you need a clean, dry and secure place to store them and we don’t always have room in the garage. An outdoor garden shed is the perfect solution and can be done in no time. Make sure you use a low maintenance rot free wood like cedar to ensure long term durability.
