SEO Misconceptions You Won’t Believe
You would think that most members of the public would have a reasonable understanding of SEO these days. However, it seems that couldn’t be further from the truth. The infographic shows some pretty shocking misconceptions people have highlighted in recent times. I’m going to list some of the strangest below. However, you should take a look at the image before leaving this website today.
What does SEO mean?
Believe it or not, 3% of people think that SEO stands for Software Engineering Organisation. On top of that, 60% had no clue what the abbreviation means at all. How shocking is that? Just to set the record straight, you know it’s Search Engine Optimisation, right?
What does SEO do for website owners?
It should come as no surprise that most consumers have no idea what SEO does for website owners. Indeed, some of them claim it has something to do with mobile phones! To avoid any more confusion, SEO helps websites to appear in more prominent positions in search listings.
Does SEO affect you?
Around 45% of people do not believe SEO affects them in any way. A further 31% are opposed to companies using SEO to modify search results. However, it’s clear that most internet users don’t even grasp the basic concept.
Those misconceptions are pretty shocking to be honest. I hope that more people educate themselves about SEO in 2016 because it DOES affect consumer buying habits. Whether you like it or not, marketing companies control where retailers are positioned. That means they make a big impact on where you buy products.
