Spring cleaning in the house – and in your head!

Finally it’s springtime! The sun is starting to shine warmer, and the spring equinox has come and gone (coupled with a solar eclipse in parts of Europe), so however we might try to put it off, it is time for the most hateful and boring part of the season: spring cleaning. Here are a few tips on how to start.


1. Start with your closet

The first sign of spring is for your winter clothes starting to feel too warm to be worn throughout the day. When this happens, it’s time to put winter clothes away (with a few exceptions, of course, as spring can trick you sometimes) and make place for the spring / summer collection you own. Spring is also the best time to get rid of the clothes you don’t wear anymore. If you have the space, you can bag them and store them until the winter returns, but if not, you can always give them away to friends and family, or to a charity. Another way to get rid of the clothes you don’t wear anymore is to sell them online or through a garage sale – this way you can even make an extra buck.

2. Get in a different mood

With winter gone, spring is also a great time to change the way your home feels. 3. Get in shape

Some people make it their New Year’s resolution to switch to a healthier lifestyle and hit the gym first thing in January – and fail to return until next January. I think the main reason for this is that they start working out in winter – they should wait until early spring to start getting in shape and work hard on that beach body. The spring is the time when the first fresh vegetables appear on the farmer’s markets, so it is much easier to introduce more healthy foods in your daily diet. Pairing healthier, fresh veggies with some workout can clean out your body just in time for the spring cleaning.
