Top Tips for Being Healthy

There’s nothing more important than your health – without it, everything else in life can fall apart. In the modern world many of us neglect our health, find ourselves rushing around, sleep deprived and compensating with coffee. Obesity is spreading across the world like wildfire and is one of the biggest health concerns of our generation. Processed food has wedged its way into our daily diet and many of our jobs entail sitting down all day, which has a number of health consequences. It can feel quite overwhelming trying to be healthy in a modern world, but here are some tips to make it easier for you.

1) Get Comprehensive Health Insurance
No matter where you live in the world, comprehensive health insurance is almost always a must. Even if the country you live in offers public health care, there’s a good chance it wont cover a lot of things including doctor’s visits and specialist treatment. As such, health insurance can make a big difference to your quality of life when things go wrong. For more information, check out HBF’s health insurance page.

2) Get a Standing Desk
If you work in an office environment, you might be surprised to think about how much time you really spend sitting down each day. From the 7-9 hours a day in your office chair, to your time in the car or trains getting to work and then when you’re home you probably plop yourself down on the couch. That’s a lot of time on your butt. One of the best ways to minimise the time spent each day sitting is to get a standing desk. There are a lot of options available, from adjustable standing desks to fixed standing desks.

3) Get a Multivitamin
Most of our diets are lacking in a few nutrients and a good multivitamin is a great way to add them in to your diet quickly. While multivitamins shouldn’t be taken as a replacement for a balanced diet, they are a good way to supplement your diet and to fill in any gaps.

4) Get Some Exercise
Exercise is a great way to improve your overall health and mood. Pick something you enjoy, from yoga to running or weights in the gym and make it a regular addition to your lifestyle. 3-5 times a week is a good amount to aim for and it is important to give your body ample time to recover between sessions.

There’s nothing more important than your health, so spend a little time and money ensuring you are the healthiest version of yourself. It will make a big difference to your quality of life, energy levels and mood.
