Top ways to improve your life this year

How is your year going so far? Have you been meeting your New Year’s resolutions? Or are you behind on your goals for the year?

If you’re ready to make 2018 your best year yet, here are some top ways you can improve your life:

Get serious about your goals

We all have goals, so what makes some people so great at meeting their goals, while others seem completely unable to do the same? Commitment. The first step is to visualise your dream life. Next, you need to carefully consider what steps you need to take to achieve this life. These are your goals. Write these down, and create a clear action plan for each goal. Check in weekly to see how you’re going, and read over your list each day to keep your goals top of mind.

Treat yourself

Are you saving for the elusive “one day?” We have no guarantees that we’ll ever get that “one day.” Of course, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be concerned with financial freedom and retirement, but you should still be treating yourself along the way. Have you always wanted to upgrade your car? Consider a Mercedes as your next car. Have you always wanted to travel in style? Skip the vacation this year and save so you can fly business class next year. These life upgrades can make a massive difference to the way you feel about life.

Get more sleep

Most of us a chronically sleep deprived- even those of us who aren’t dealing with 2am diaper changes and feedings. If you do one thing to improve your life, commit to getting more sleep this year. While you may assume napping is for the laziest among us, a quick 20-minute nap can improve your mood, performance, and altertness. A nap between 12pm and 4pm can be a great option, just make sure you don’t sleep for too long- 20-40 minutes is all you need.

Another good idea? Commit to getting up at the same time each day. This will help you avoid confusing your body with late nights and late starts. Resist hitting snooze, and get up a little earlier for a stress-free morning. This will often mean going to bed earlier, so get organised and hit the sheets early- you’ll thank yourself the next day.
