Travel to Greece: Mykonos Island

Mykonos is one of the many Greek islands located in the Aegean Sea. It can offer all the Greek islands provide – sunny weather, golden sandy beaches, transparent waters, traditional villages, and great food based on fresh fish and seafood. But in Mykonos, you will find even more: great luxury, wild parties, and a lot of Greek and international celebrities.

You will find it a little more expensive to visit Mykonos than any other island in Greece but it is really worth it if you are looking not just to spend your summer vacations on an island but to have a special experience of luxury and quality lifestyle on your holidays.

Mykonos is the Greek Ibiza, the island of the winds and the meeting point of many jet setters from all over the world. As it accepts thousands of tourists each summer, you will have to start organizing your trip early, in order to get the best out of it.

Accommodation

You will have a big variety of options for your accommodation, starting from relatively low-cost rooms for rent to the most attractive luxury Mykonos villas. There are also a lot of hotels on the island with different ratings up to 5 stars.

Some of the biggest hotels are in fact resorts with many useful facilities so that you will not really have to move at all for eating, shopping or swimming.

If you prefer to walk around and mix with the crowds but also have a cozy and lavish accommodation, it would be better to choose a five-star hotel near Chora, the capital of Mykonos. Such hotels are Belvedere, Bill & Coo Suites and Lounge, Myconian Kyma Design Hotel, and Boheme.

If you prefer a little more secluded accommodation, you can choose one Mykonos Villa or you can try one of the 5-star hotels located outside of the city or near some of the beautiful southern beaches – such as the Myconian Ambassador Relais & Chateaux at Platys Yialos or Mykonos Grand at Agios Ioannis or Kenshō Boutique Hotel at Ornos beach.

Parties

Entertainment is very easy to find in Mykonos and the famous crazy parties are almost everywhere. But in order to join those that really suit you best it would be better to use the concierge services some agencies offer and even book a VIP ticket to them in advance.

Some of the best all-night parties take place at the northern “party beaches”: Paradise, Super Paradise, and Paraga. They are all lounge, crowded beaches during the day and turn into a big party scene as the sun falls. It is guaranteed that you will have great fun there!

Famous Beaches

The most famous beaches in Mykonos are Psarou, Paraga, Paradise, and Super Paradise beaches. They are all organized and easily accessible, they have golden sand and turquoise waters and they offer a lot of services like sunbeds and umbrellas for hire, water sports, restaurants and beach bars.

Many celebrities visit these beaches each summer so it is very likely you will be enjoying your sunbath next to a famous top model or a movie star! It is better to go to these beaches early because they attract a lot of tourists and if you are late, you may find all the good spots are taken.

You can also find some less famous beaches but worth visiting, with plenty of amenities and services, clean waters to swim and soft sand to relax. Some of these beaches are Elia, Ornos, Agios Ioannis, and Platys Gialos.

Transportation

You can go to Mykonos either by boat from Pireus, Athens port, or by airplane, as Mykonos has an international airport. You will also find a helicopter and private jet hire services that can transport you from the mainland to the island and back.

For your transportation within the island, you will have plenty of luxury options. You can hire a limousine with a driver or a private yacht with a crew or even helicopters and jets. Most hotels have their own mini-buses and limousines for their clients and if you prefer low-cost transportation there are always taxis and local public buses available.
