Travelling to Europe this summer? Read this post

If you’re like many people, you’ll be getting excited for your travel to Europe this summer. This is a rite of passage for many people, and there’s a reason why European summer travel is so popular.

Here are some top tips if you’re travelling to Europe this summer:

Do some research

The last thing you want to do is head to Europe without knowing much about where you’re going. Prepare for local holidays so you’ll know to purchase accommodation and train tickets in advance, and check if your hotel has wifi and/or air conditioning.

Lighted Buildings Nighttime

Buy in advance

For people who are travelling to Europe in summer, it’s important to book anything you can in advance. That’s because you’ll want to maximise the time you have to relax and enjoy your vacation and minimise the amount of time you spend standing in line.

Plan around the weather

There’s a reason why an afternoon siesta is so popular in parts of Europe. If you decide to ditch a nice afternoon nap, make this the time that you hit the museum’s (most will be air-conditioned). It’s also a good idea to get up super early in the morning (while most tourists are in bed) to see the most popular sites without the crowds and the heat of the day.

Don’t do too much

You may not realise just how hot it’s going to be in Europe in summer until you’re actually there. This is the time to slow down, enjoy your surroundings, and limit how much time you spend getting from one city to another- especially when it’s hot and uncomfortable. If you don’t love the sound of waiting in the heat for a train or bus, consider using an airport transfer company like Blacklane, and enjoy that comfortable, air-conditioned ride.

Pack light

If you’ve ever considered ditching your heavy suitcase for a lighter backpack, now is the time. Much of Europe is cobblestoned streets, and there’s nothing worse than lugging a heavy suitcase through crowded airports, trains, and streets. Since you’ll be travelling in summer you can choose lighter clothing, and if you’re travelling for a long time you can even do laundry on the way.

Stay healthy

You won’t want to end up cutting your trip short because you forgot to take care of yourself. Be sure to apply sunscreen with a high SPF factor, and drink tons of water- make sure you always have a bottle on you. Keep an eye on your belongings, and watch out for scammers and pickpockets. Never carry all of your cash on you, and think about carrying an emergency supply.
