Visiting Sydney? Here are some fun things to do

Sydney is an incredible, family-friendly city. If you’re planning a visit, here are some super fun things activities for both adults and children:

Check out Circular Quay

This is the main hub for transport in Sydney, and you’ll find two of the most famous landmarks in Australia here: The Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Take the obligatory tourist photos with the family, and spend some time walking around the area or sitting and watching the ferries. There are also tours of the Opera House, and a number of great cafes and family friendly restaurants when it’s time for lunch.

Take a coastal walk

The Bondi to Bronte coastal walk is fun for everyone- from couples to young kids. You’ll love this 1km walk, which begins at from the Promenade at Bondi. Expect it to take a couple of hours so you can stop and take photos, while admiring the rock pools, basy, and cliffs. If little legs need a rest, you can grab a bite to eat and a coffee at Tamarama Beach. There’s also a great beach At Bronte Beach, and be sure to bring swimsuits since the baths are a great spot for kids.

Visit Darling Harbour

You’ll need at least half a day in Darling Harbour, which you can visit with a quick ferry ride or walk from the CBD. The kids will love the massive playground here, which features climbing ropes, a flying fox, swings, and slides. The restaurants Darling Harbour can’t be beat, so be sure to arrive with an empty stomach.

Grab a picnic in the gardens

The Royal Botanic Gardens are a standout in the city. You’ll be able to enjoy views of both the harbour and the city, so grab a takeaway lunch at Circular Quay or pack a picnic lunch so you can sit in the sun (or shade) and let the kids run completely free. Be sure to take a walk around these gardens, and consider taking a free walking tour (self-guided). Don’t miss Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, where you’ll find one of the best views or the Harbour Bridge and Opera House in Sydney.

Climb the Harbour Bridge

If you’re the adventurous type, you’ll love climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, which will give you incredible views and an adrenaline rush. On the other hand, if you’ve got kids, you may want to just take a walk across the bride, enjoying the views from the lower level. If you start at The Rocks, you can stroll for 1.4km until you get to Milsons Point at the other end of the bridge. You can then grab a ferry, train, or walk back to where you started.
